Meet Dr Avedis Assadour Ekmejian

That’s why we are pleased to introduce Dr Avedis Assadour Ekmejian, a cardiologist with training in both general and interventional cardiology. Dr Ekmejian combines his clinical expertise with a patient-focused approach, providing education and management strategies for cardiac health.

A passion for cardiac health

Dr Ekmejian has worked across multiple tertiary hospitals in New South Wales, gaining experience in diagnosing and treating a range of heart conditions. His training includes the management of coronary artery disease, chest pain assessment, and minimally invasive procedures as part of comprehensive cardiac care. While he is trained in advanced interventions, he is also passionate about preventative care, supporting patients in reducing their risk of heart disease before complications arise.

Academic achievements and research contributions

Dr Ekmejian’s dedication to evidence-based medicine is reflected in his academic and research work. His qualifications include:

As part of his commitment to advancing interventional cardiology, Dr Ekmejian has completed his PhD at the University of Sydney, focusing on improving patient outcomes in heart care. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he regularly reviews scientific studies to contribute to the ongoing development of cardiology practices. 

Dr Ekmejian’s research contributions have been presented at national conferences, where he was a finalist for the ANZET Early Career Research Prize.

Teaching the next generation of cardiologists

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Ekmejian is dedicated to the future of medical education. He is a lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he teaches future medical professionals, and actively trains cardiology trainees at Royal North Shore Hospital. He also co-directs the HEART course, an advanced training program that supports healthcare professionals in developing their procedural and clinical skills.
